Meet

Born on January 20, 1945 in
Birmingham, Alabama. I come from several generations of shared talents,
from well known architects both in the United States and Mexico; a
Mother who was a dance partner to Fred Astair before Ginger Rogers; and a descendant of Admiral Perry.
My work is a blend of Natural and unending realism, born out of a love
for animals and nature. After years of doing oil paintings, I found a
real love for the techniques associated with fine Art on Gourds. Every
Gourd has different shapes, textures, size and color that provide me a
new and unusual canvas to work on. |

With the use of acrylics, leather dyes, leather acrylics, and silk paints
with a emphasis on relief carving and cut burning I am able to
give a sense of realism to the subject matter. To accent my Art pieces I
have incorporated metal and leather weaving along with the inlaying of
metals and various other materials. The work comes from my heart
and mind allowing all to share some of the most wonderful, colorful and
delightful scenes that nature can provide. With two years of college majoring in Art with a business
minor I have expanded my artistic ability through exploration of
new and unusual techniques. I have been featured in Chips Chats Woodcarving
Magazine, Gourd Craft by Ginger Summit, Glorious Gourd Decorating by
Mickey Basket and recently released how to by Jim Widess and Ginger
Summit titled Gourd Carving. I have donated Art Pieces to the San Diego Zoo, Jane Goodall Institute, and Tippi Hedren of the Roar Foundation
to support all wild life. I enjoy
doing custom Art pieces for those who want to capture precious moments
and have Lasting Memories of a subject dear to their heart. It takes
from 40 to as much as 200 hours to complete a piece depending on the
complexity and the subject matter. Each piece is photographed, numbered,
and cataloged to assure originality. Having won numerous awards, I
consider the greatest reward the knowledge that people enjoy my Artwork.
I am fortunate to have a talent I can share with others.
I hope you enjoy viewing the Art
Pieces on this site as much as I enjoyed creating them. Marguerite
